Poet Robert Bringhurst was raised in the Canadian Rockies. He attended M.I.T., the University of Utah and Indiana University. Returning to Canada in 1973 after a prolonged residence in South America, Europe and the Near East, Bringhurst joined the Department of Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.
